Laura Falvo Administrator BA, IMTD (3-6), RECE, PHT

Laura Falvo has dedicated more than 33 years to providing children with the best opportunity to learn. She began working at the Montessori School of Sudbury in 1991 as an Educator, became a Casa Directress in 1999 and then the School Administrator in 2006. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a Major in Psychology from Laurentian University, a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She continued her education and received a Pharmacy Assistant Certificate from Cambrian College in 1997. She also has her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Preschool/Kindergarten Montessori Diploma Program in 2003. Laura is a mother of three young adults who are all attending postsecondary school and attests the Montessori philosophy and education to the successes of her children. She loves the outdoors, is an avid reader, and continues with her professional learning.

Lori Whynott Administrative Assistant ADASD

Lori Whynott has worked at the Montessori School of Sudbury since 2006. She has a Diploma from Cambrian College in the Administrative Assistant Program. When Lori is not working, you can find her at the dog park with her puppies, or reading.

“I may not be in the classroom very often but when I am, I truly enjoy my time working with and watching the children learn and grow.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

TODDLER

Heather Rees Directress IMTD (24-36mos), RECE

Heather Rees brings almost 30 years in early childhood education to the Montessori School of Sudbury. She graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College in 1988 and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has worked at the school since 2009 where she started as an Educator and is now the Directress in the Toddler Classroom. In 2017 she completed the International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Infant/Toddler Diploma Program. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling with her family, camping, shopping and being outdoors.

“I have been in the field for nearly 30 years now and I am passionate in watching the toddlers grow and learn.”

 

 

Melody Petitclerc Educator IMTD (24-36mos), RECE

Melody Petitclerc has worked at the Montessori School of Sudbury since 2010 where she started in the Pre-Casa Program. In 2008 she graduated from Cambrian College in the Early Childhood Education Program and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She currently works in the Toddler Classroom. In 2017 she completed her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Infant/Toddler Diploma Program. Before working as an Early Childhood Educator, she worked as a photographer, something which she still enjoys.

“I believe in the Montessori method of education and am lucky enough to see every day just how beneficial the program is for young children.”

 

 

Emily Dempsey Educator IMTD (24-36mos)

Emily MissEmily Dempsey has worked at the Montessori School of Sudbury since 2012 where she has assisted in the Toddler, Pre-Casa and Casa Classrooms. She obtained her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Infant/Toddler Diploma Program in 2017. Emily has also worked as an Enhanced Educator in the classrooms. She says while she enjoys working in all programs, her heart is in the Toddler Program. Emily says her organizational skills make her an ideal fit for the Montessori Program.

“I am honoured to be a part of the Montessori family and feel privileged to join the children on their journey in the Montessori education.”

 

 

 

PRE CASA

Sara Willcock Directress IMTD (3-6), RECE

Sara Willcock graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College in 2011 and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has been working at the Montessori School of Sudbury since 2011 and worked as an Educator in the Casa 2 Classroom with Miss Janice for four years before becoming the Directress of the Pre-Casa Classroom in 2015. She holds an International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Early Childhood Diploma Program. When she isn’t working she enjoys snowboarding in the winter and camping in the summer. She is also an animal lover and enjoys spending time with her pets.

Marissa Falvo Educator IMTD (3-6/6-9), RECE

Marissa Falvo has worked at the Montessori School of Sudbury since 2013. She is a graduate of the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She is in her last year of the Development Service Worker Program at Cambrian College. She completed her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center specializing in the Early Childhood Diploma Program, and is in the process of completing the Montessori Lower Elementary Diploma Program. In her spare time she plays Varsity Soccer with Cambrian College and with the Sudbury Women’s Soccer League.

CASA 1

Tanya Scott Directress BA, B.Ed, IMTD (3-6)

Tanya Scott joined the Montessori School of Sudbury in 2012. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Laurentian University and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary/Junior from Nipissing University. She spent 12 years supporting children’s early development through various roles in Early Childhood Education settings. She holds an International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Early Childhood Diploma Program. Tanya is married to Jason and they have two daughters. After 5 p.m. she can either be found at the dance studio with her daughter Abbey or the hockey rink with her daughter Taylor.

“As Directress in the Casa 1 Classroom, I take great pride in teaching the unique Montessori philosophy and in my role developing the future minds of this great city.”

 

 

Danica Lavergne Educator IMTD (3-6), RECE

Danica Lavergne has worked as an Educator in the Casa 1 Classroom since 2015. She graduated with Honours from the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. To further her education, she completed the International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Early Childhood Diploma Program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying active.

FRENCH ENRICHMENT

Giselle Landry-Peterson Directress/ Educator BA, CYW, IMTD (3-6/6-9)

Gisele Landry-Peterson graduated in 2008 from Ryerson University with a Degree in the Bachelor of Arts Child and Youth Care Program. She continued with her education and received a Diploma from Cambrian College in the Child and Youth Worker Program in 1993. She began working at the Montessori School of Sudbury in 1999. She brings more than 25 years of experience in education from both the private and public school system and is fluently bilingual in French and English. In 2006 she achieved her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Preschool/Kindergarten Montessori Diploma Program, and in 2016 the International Montessori Teaching Diploma in the Lower Elementary Diploma Program. In 2006 she became the Directress of our new French Enrichment Program.

CASA 2

Janice Belanger Directress CYW, IMTD (3-6)

Janice Belanger joined the Montessori School of Sudbury in 2001 as an Educator Assistant. In 2006 she became the Directress of the Casa 2 Classroom. She has her diploma as Child Care Worker from Algonquin College, and her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Preschool/Kindergarten Montessori Diploma Program. Janice is the proud mother to two girls, Rachel and Nicole and is married to her husband, Joel. She loves nature and the outdoors, and her happy place is to be at the lake reading or in the evenings by a fire.

“I truly love my job and I am passionate about my class, the students, parents, and my staff. I believe in the saying that it takes a village to raise a child, which is what I get to do with these individuals.”

 

 

Katrina Maier Educator IMTD (3-6), RECE

Katrina Maier started her career at the Montessori School of Sudbury as a summer student in 2013. She graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program at Cambrian College in 2015 and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She is currently an Educator in the Casa 2 classroom and runs the movement program.  She has obtained her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center specializing in the Early Childhood Diploma Program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to camp in the summer and playing hockey in the winter.

“It has always been a dream of mine to teach children and help them succeed.”

 

 

Amy Bates Educator Assistant IMTD (3-6)

Amy Bates has worked at Montessori School of Sudbury since 2013. She obtained her International Montessori Teaching Diploma (IMTD) from the North American Montessori Center specializing in the Early Childhood Diploma Program in 2016. She has worked alongside Miss Janice and Miss Katrina in the Casa 2 Classroom, watching children learn and grow in all areas of the program. She is married to Terence and has two daughters, Alexa and Carley, both of whom have attended the Montessori School of Sudbury. In her spare time and with her family, she enjoys going downhill skiing in the winter and spending time at their camp in the summer.

“Working with the children and watching them learn and grow in all areas of the classroom brings me as much happiness as it does to them. I enjoy assisting the children in building a foundation of love and learning.”

 

Samantha Harper Educator Assistant IMTD (3-6), EA

Samantha Harper joined the Montessori School of Sudbury in 2014 as an Enhanced Educator, working within all the classrooms and alongside children who require extra help. She is a graduate of the Educational Assistant Program at Northern College and began her career with the YMCA working with children with special needs. Sam has completed her International Montessori Teaching Diploma from the North American Montessori Center in the Early Childhood Diploma Program and today is an Educator Assistant in the Casa 2 Classroom.

“Having worked in both the “Play to Learn” setting and a Montessori setting has given me a greater understanding of children’s learning and development.”
